Abstract

Professionalism values are critical for modern organizations facing rapid change, digital transformation, and diverse workforces. Through systematic literature review and thematic synthesis, this study identifies seven professionalism values relevant to modern organizations: integrity, personal accountability, continuous competence, collaboration and mutual respect, adaptability to change, fairness and objectivity, and effective transparent communication. These values form an integrated system where weakness in one value cannot be compensated by strength in another. A systematic approach to developing these values comprises nine interconnected components: explicit articulation and ongoing socialization of values, integration into recruitment and selection, reflective training using case studies and role play, incorporation into performance appraisal with significant weighting, consistent reward and consequence systems, leadership development focused on role modeling, anonymous reporting mechanisms with whistleblower protection, continuous evaluation and improvement of programs, and creation of reinforcing rituals and symbols. Modern organizations cannot rely on individual conscience alone; systemic HRM interventions are essential. The framework bridges professional ethics literature and HRM literature, offering evidence based guidance for practitioners. Implementation must begin with leadership commitment, as role modeling is the most powerful influence mechanism.
