Abstract

This study aims to investigate the effect of teacher motivation and the level of teacher training on teacher performance. Motivation and training are considered as key factors in determining the extent to which teachers can make a significant contribution in improving the quality of education. Data was collected through a questionnaire that focused on the motivation level of teachers, their participation in training on work performance. The sample for this study was assigned to teachers in selected public and private secondary schools in the Wonokromo area of Surabaya. 100 secondary school teachers from the Wonokromo area in Surabaya participated in this study. The non-probability sampling procedure, especially purposive sampling, i.e. heterogeneous involving selected public and private secondary schools from the Wonokromo area was applied where the researcher targeted schools that were believed to be reliable for this study. From the statistical analysis of multiple linear regression, the results reveal that there is a significant influence between teacher motivation on teacher performance. In addition, the level of training also affects the work performance of teachers.
